Mission & Values
We exist to be a church family on mission with Jesus.
God’s mission has a church, and as a church we join in on the mission of Jesus. The church is not a place, but a people saved by Jesus who now relate to God as Father and each other as brothers and sisters. We are a ‘church family’ because being on mission with Jesus is not something we do alone, but something we together with other followers of Jesus.
We are a church family who desires to live out the Great Commandment and the Great Commission. In other words, our purpose is to love God with all our hearts and to make disciples of all nations.
This mission is the foundation of our church and it drives everything that we do— from the gatherings we provide to the events we produce. We exist to be a transformative people with the sole purpose of living and learning Christ the King.
The Great Commandment can be found in Matthew 22:37-38 and the Great Commission in Matthew 28:18-20
Our Values
-
Scripture
We value Scripture because it’s eternal. We believe God actually wrote a book called the Bible, and that people are radically changed by hearing its truth’s proclaimed. We believe scripture is the very words of God and equips us for every good work.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
-
Gathering
We value gathering together because it’s essential. Christianity is not meant to be lived alone, but with other brothers and sisters in Christ. We cannot grow effectively in isolation. Therefore, we invite our members to commit to our gatherings.
Hebrews 10:25
-
Prayer
We value prayer because it’s effective. We believe God is actually listening when we pray, that He hears the pleas of his people and powerfully moves in response. Prayer proclaims who God is and acknowledges Jesus as Lord of our lives.
James 5:16
-
All About Jesus
We value Jesus because he’s everything. Jesus is the true prophet, true priest, true king, true sacrifice, true lamb, true light and the true bread. Jesus is the true and only way to God. There is no area in all of reality that is exempt from Christ’s reign.
Romans 11:36
Our Name
'King's Cross Church' clearly communicates what we are all about. We're all about Jesus, the King of kings (Revelation 17:14), who lived a sinless life (Hebrews 4:15), died on the cross and rose on the third day in order to save sinners (1Corinthians 15:3-4) and bring them together as his church (Colossians 1:18)
